If contemporary art has been departing from the public too much, how necessary is it to have an artist statement? If art is meant to be subjective, how necessary is it to have an artist statement? If a piece of work is surrounded by theories and ideologies, isn't it a discourse hegemony over the untrained eyes or deprivation of their rights to define it?
