Wakana Shimamura is a Nisei Japanese-Canadian artist who is an uninvited guest currently residing and working on the unceded-stolen lands of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations - also known as North Vancouver, British Columbia. Shimamura’s main practice revolves around sculpture and installation art while exploring other methods of creating such as digital media, collage, painting and traditional Japanese craft making.
